About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to connect our core network technology to third-party systems. This role will report to a technical lead and will be responsible for building and maintaining integration infrastructure that will help us shake up the multi-billion dollar travel industry.

Over time, this role will be introduced to our core technology, distributed systems, and the technical challenges of keeping data synchronized in a network with nodes running around the world.

Your responsibilities

  • Follow third-party API specifications to their data and communication protocols with our own GraphQL API.
  • Manage and maintain a job-queuing system based on RabbitMQ to guarantee delivery of messages between systems.
  • Constantly evaluate past technical decisions and feel comfortable changing course when needed.
  • To adapt quickly in an environment where priorities can change based on emerging opportunities.

Basic requirements

  • 2+ years programming experience in JavaScript (TypeScript experience is a bonus).
  • Strong grasp of JSON / XML and API architecture and experience reading API specification documentation.
  • An understanding of job queues and their failure modes.
  • The ability to take a list of product requirements and break them down into technical components.
  • An excellent grasp of the English language (B2+ level), and experience communicating about complex technical concepts.
  • European time zone preferred

Additional advantages

  • Experience working with RabbitMQ or other AMQP queues.
  • Experience integrating systems controlled by different parties.
  • Experience working with existing travel distribution infrastructure and travel APIs.
  • Experience using and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  • Salary range of 40,000 EUR+on a B2B contract directly with client and 20 paid days of holiday in year
